Stone Veneer Planter Wall Repair — Butte, MT

The stone veneer on this Butte planter wall had let go. Loose caps, open joints, and a few stones ready to drop into the yard. We pulled the caps and the loose stone, cleaned out the old mortar, re-bedded everything in fresh mortar, and set the caps back level with tight joints. Then we tooled every joint so water sheds instead of sitting in it. Masonry repair in Butte is all about freeze-thaw: water gets into a crack, freezes, and pries the stone off a little more every winter. Fix it early and it is a repair. Wait and it is a rebuild.
