Composite Planter Bench Covers — Butte, MT

A Butte homeowner had brick planters wrapping the back patio with nothing on top of them. Rough brick, open to the weather, and nobody sat on them. We built composite decking caps for every run: glued and screwed up on sawhorses in the yard, mitered around the corners and the columns, then fastened down with a finished edge board so no cut ends show. Now they are benches. No splinters, no staining every other year, and the covers keep water out of the top of the brick, which is what cracks mortar joints when it freezes. A small job that changed how the whole patio gets used.
